Critique response

Today I showed four large digital prints of "floating images" – a series that I began the year before. Started with a photographic series and led to more Photoshop exploration. The images were segments of larger works pared down and accentuated. These images were then used to create a dialogue with the paintings that I am working on.

Viktor made some recommendations; first was to stretch the canvas images in order to get more of a sense of illusion; or to try painting over the surface or to blend pixels more. I explained that it was not my intention to create an illusion, but rather to retain the pixel with their vibrating sensation. Viktor also recommended that I look at the “Photograms” by Rutgers’ Diane Neumaier. Her work is vibrant and luminous.
